I work in Acrylic, Watercolor, Oil, Pastel, Colored Pencil, Charcoal, Graphite Pencil, and recently clay. Portraits from live models and photos, in any medium. Being versatile is important to me, so I jump around the board and do a lot of different things from portrait to landscape, still life, and whimsy. I also take workshops and studio classes that are offered to enhance my portfolio, meet other artists, and continue to learn and grow as an Artist.
Graphic Communications, Drawing, Interior Design and photography were part of my early education. Most recently my interests have led me to the study of Forensic Art, combining a love of Anatomy, and medical knowledge and terminology from 25 years as an LPN (retired). To prepare for this I completed 2 workshops (80 hrs) taught at Scottsdale Art School by Karen T. Taylor (author of Forensic Art and Illustration c2001) in Comprenehsive Composite Drawing and Advanced 2-Dimensional ID Techniques. That followed with 2 more workshops (80 hrs) taught by Betty Pat Gatliff at the Un. Of Oklahoma Outreach in Basic Facial Reconstruction Workshop and Advanced Facial Reconstruction Workshop.
I am native of Buffalo, New York, have lived in the Hawaiian Islands on Kauai, and the desert valley of Phoenix, Arizona prior to moving to the Smokey Mountain region of Franklin, North Carolina. I always carry a camera, and my work is produced from my photographs, sketches, and live models.
